Beautiful Christmas tree and lights for our moms retreat party!

Why a Moms Retreat Now?

Many will wonder why on earth would I purposely plan a moms retreat during a time of year that is so busy and already packed full of other events? Well, that is precisely why this is the perfect time of year! As almost every trauma mom knows, the holidays can be a very stressful, frustrating, and depressing time for our families. We all need time to step back, spend a little time taking care of ourselves, and connecting with others who are dealing with similar things.

We all know that what is supposed to be holly and jolly fun usually isn’t that at all for children who have experienced trauma, abandonment, broken attachment, or otherwise struggle with brain-based special needs and differences. Rather than being joyous and festive, our holidays are often filled with meltdowns, entitlement, and control battles. That’s no fun for anyone! Thus, we need a moms retreat!

It doesn’t have to be so hard!

There really is a way to make the holidays work for you and your family and be able to recapture at least some of the magic and wonder of the season.

As with any good retreat, the first purpose for it is connection. This job of parenting traumatized children is SUCH a lonely and isolating job at any time of the year. Those feelings often become even more pronounced during the holidays. There will be lots of time to make new friends and chat with other moms who “get it” and are dealing with similar things.

Our second purpose will be to get the holiday season started off on the right foot. We’ll be talking about various ways to create a lower stress and successful holiday season.  Sometimes a perspective shift and doing things a little differently is all it takes to make things work for you, your family, and your struggling child.

Is this Holiday Retreat for Me?

You’re a great fit for our holiday retreat if:

Z

You’re a mom of a child who struggles with intense emotional and behavioral problems related to things like Reactive Attachment Disorder, FASD, ADHD, Autism, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Complex PTSD, or other mental illness or developmental delays.

Z

You are willing and able to show up, be on time, be seen, and fully participate in both sessions of our retreat.

Z

You’re excited to meet new people who get you and get your life, make new friends, and are open to new ideas about how to make things work for you and your family.

Z

You’re committed to keeping things as light and fun as possible for our group, even though the reality of our lives is very hard and very heavy. We all need a break from that, even just for a minute!

Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect at this retreat?

Our retreat will be a lighthearted mix of mingling and getting to know each other, mastermind discussions that everyone will be invited to participate in, and very small group discussions that happen in private breakout rooms.

How do I participate in the live event?

We will be meeting via Zoom. An access link will be emailed to you prior to the start of the retreat. We’ll use the same link for both sessions.

Do I have to be seen on camera?

By default, your camera will be turned on when you first log into the session.  People naturally connect with each other better when we can see each other and talk face-to-face, so I highly recommend leaving it on.

That said, just as you probably wouldn’t show up to a networking or social event in your pajamas, you might want to consider whether that is the best choice for this event…though we all get it and we won’t judge if you choose to show up that way.

How much does it cost?

This retreat is meant to be accessible and affordable to as many moms who want to come. The cost is just $35 for both sessions!

What if I can't attend both days?

It is by far preferred that you try to arrange your schedule so you can attend both sessions.

This womens retreat isn’t like an ordinary webinar or conference call where you can just duck in and out whenever you feel like it without being noticed.

There will be people you’ll want to have deeper conversations with and they will want to talk to you as well. If you’re not there, those conversations and connections can’t happen.

If you absolutely cannot attend both sessions, you might want to consider if this is the right opportunity for you at this time.

While no one can or will make you stay the whole time or attend both sessions, there will be no monetary discount for missed sessions and it really is quite distracting and disruptive to our other participants when people show up late, leave early, or only show up to part of the sessions.

Will the sessions be recorded?

No. This event is a very interactive, live retreat focused on connection and mastermind discussions. I will, however, have notes and slides available for attendees for any pre-planned topics we discuss.

I’ve learned from experience that privacy and safety are critical for our moms.  Our lives are hard, heavy, and intense. Most of our situations are also not well understood by the outside world.

It is very important that we keep our retreats and gatherings a safe place for everyone to learn, listen, and share their experiences without fear their words or details of their situation will end up being shared somewhere or viewed by someone they don’t know about.

Second, this holiday retreat is all about connecting with others who are walking the same road you are on. Even after all these years, it amazes me how quickly solid, lifelong friendships can form in situations like this.

Plus, when you’re just watching a replay, you lose the ability to be present in the conversations, ask questions and fully engage the group. So, there really is no benefit to anyone to record the sessions.

Can I get a refund?

As a general rule, registration fees are not refundable for this event. I’ve tried to make it as affordable as possible for moms to attend and want to encourage commitment to showing up.

However, I do realize life happens. If you have an absolutely dire emergency, feel free to contact me privately about your situation and we’ll discuss whether a refund would be appropriate or not.

Meet Your Host!

Hi! I’m Diana. I’m a wife, a mom to 3 awesome (but challenging) kids, and I’m a certified parent and family coach. Two of my children came to me through adoption and struggle with all sorts of issues including FASD, RAD, ADHD, PTSD, mood disorders, learning disabilities, and a whole lot more.  Sometimes they’re my greatest challenge and always my greatest gifts.

Though we’re far from perfect and we’ve had our share of ups and downs, we’ve weathered a whole lot of the storms and made it through with our family still in tact! For the most part, we even still like each other, too.

I have a passion for helping hurting, exhausted moms families find their way out of darkness and chaos and enjoy a greater sense of connection, peace, and harmony in their lives and in their homes. Learn more at serenitylinkscoaching.com
